Homework Score Difference Calculator
Compare two homework score percentages. The signed difference is the second score minus the first, measured in percentage points.
How to use Homework Score Difference Calculator
1. Enter First Score %, Second Score % using the same scoring scale or point-total model. 2. Keep earned points and scores non-negative; enter a target between 0 and 100 where requested. 3. Select Calculate or press Enter to see percentage-point difference. 4. Select Select Copy result to copy the answer or Reset to clear the form.
Why use this tool?
Compare two homework percentages while retaining whether the second is higher or lower.
How the calculation works
Percentage-point difference = second score percentage − first score percentage. A positive result means the second score is higher. This model does not apply missing-work penalties, late deductions, dropped assignments or teacher-specific category weights automatically. Include applicable adjustments before entering scores or point totals. Percentages, point gaps and differences use up to two decimal places; averages use up to three. Smaller nonzero results use six significant digits in scientific notation. Browser floating-point rounding applies. Numeric input and result magnitudes must not exceed 9,007,199,254,740,991. Score and weight lists support up to 20,000 entries.
Example
First Score % = 80, Second Score % = 95 gives “15 percentage points”.
Practical tip
An increase from 60% to 80% is 20 percentage points. Relative to 60%, it is a 33.33% increase; those are different descriptions.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a relative percentage change?
No. It subtracts two percentages. An 80% score minus a 60% score is 20 percentage points, not a 20% relative increase.
What grading rules are assumed?
This model does not apply missing-work penalties, late deductions, dropped assignments or teacher-specific category weights automatically. Include applicable adjustments before entering scores or point totals.
Are extra credit and fractional points supported?
Non-negative fractional points are accepted. Supplied earned points or scores above the ordinary maximum can represent existing extra credit. Targets are limited to 0–100%; future target-score planning assumes at most the stated available points. The tool does not determine your grading policy.
